GEORGE DENNIS
It was around 2012 that I started taking a serious interest in contemporary street photography. I remember being excited at the idea that there was no barrier to entry in shooting good stuff, you just had to get out there and develop an eye for it.
“I realised that exceptional images could be composed of really mundane subject matter and that the skill really just lies in noticing stuff that others don’t.”
I go out and I walk until something catches my eye. I try and stay light on my feet and use very little additional equipment (just a lens hood most of the time).
New places inspire my best work. I’m drawn to graphic, cartoon-like scenes where the boundaries between real life and imagination become a little blurred, usually foreign vernaculars with fun pops of colour.
I try and keep any editing to a minimum and always feel a bit dirty if I have to fiddle with colour correction or exposure.
